Harris (Harriet) Park
Located in the Woodlawn community, Harris Park totals 2.37 acres and features a gymnasium, indoor swimming pool, fitness center, youth wellness center and a multi-purpose room. Many of these spaces are available for rental including our multi-purpose room.
Park-goers can participate in seasonal sports, adult & youth fitness classes, along with aquatic programs. In the summer youth attend the Park District鈥檚 popular six-week day camp.
In addition to programs, Harris Park hosts fun special events throughout the year for the entire family such as holiday themed-events.
The 快播视频 acquired this property in 2003. Formerly known as 鈥淗arris YMCA,鈥 6200 S. Drexel Ave., the District converted the YWCA into a fieldhouse. In 2004, the park was named Harriet M. Harris Park. Harris was a philanthropist and the namesake of the former YWCA which used to operate at this site. Harris, who grew up in the Woodlawn Community, provided funding in 1971 to build the Harris Center. Her commitment to women and children is exemplified in more than 30 years of initiatives sponsored by the Harris Family Fund and Harris Bank. This park is located in the Woodlawn Community area.
