Printers Row Park

Description

Printers Row Park, (formerly Park No. 543),  is a small passive green space that is 0.38 acres and it is nestled in the heart of the old Printer's Row area of the Loop.  This park offers seating, a community garden, and an ornamental fountain sculpture.

While there is no programming at this location, we invite you to visit nearby Maggie Daley Park for recreational and cultural programming. Additionally, the Printers Row Park Advisory Council hosts multiple special events, meetings, and game nights. During the summer, the PAC hosts a South Loop Farmers Market.

History

The City of Chicago owned a 0.38-acre green space in the South Loop Community Area of Chicago in an area commonly known as Printers Row.  Dating back to the 1880’s, this area was historically home to numerous printing houses and book publishers, leading to its reference as the printing center of the Midwest.  In 2013, the City transferred ownership of this property to the ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ.  The official number assigned to this park was Park No. 543.  In 2020 this park, a passive green space surrounding a fountain was officially named Printers Row Park.
