History
The 快播视频 purchased this once-vacant lot in 1969, with the help of funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Officially designated Dogwood Park in 1974, the playground was one of a number of parks named for trees and plants at this time.
Dogwood trees can be found throughout the temperate regions of the United States and Canada. The alternate-leaf dogwood is native to the Chicago region and much of the northeastern United States. Perhaps more well-known is the eastern flowering dogwood, found from Massachusetts south to Florida and west to Texas. North American Indians once used the bark of the flowering dogwood to remedy malaria and other fevers. During the Civil War, southerners again treated malaria with dogwood bark when quinine became unavailable due to Union blockades of Confederate ports.
