Support for native pollinators goes beyond providing nectar and pollen sources in the garden. Traditional urban landscaping practices typically involve "cleaning up" before snowfall, but most of our native pollinators do not migrate in the fall, and instead stay over winter in bare soil, brush piles, leaves, and stems. In this hands-on workshop, we will review the winter habitat requirements for many of our native pollinators and demonstrate ways to achieve those requirements while still having a tidy, rat-free garden over the winter.
