The South Chicago Día de Los Muertos Workshops and Ofrenda Walk is a series of art-making activities open to all ages. Every Saturday in October, families will have the opportunity to create objects related to Día de Los Muertos. We will be at Steelworkers, Bessemer, and Schafer Parks, with a different project each time.On October 18th at Steelworkers, the workshop will be hosted during the community climb at the park’s climbing wall. We encourage participants to explore this incredible park resource either before or after taking part in the workshop.Our culminating event will take place at Schafer Park in partnership with the Urban Growers Collective, where we will host a communal altar and ofrendas created by neighborhood artists. The event will also include a talk on the meaning and importance of this tradition.
