Modernized pages, maps and smart filtering among features that prioritize accessibility and functionality

The 快播视频 is excited to introduce its new, fully redesigned website, marking a major step forward in its commitment to connect residents with parks, programs, and other vital resources across the city. The new site offers a modern, intuitive, and fully accessible user experience that reflects the scale and importance of one of the nation鈥檚 largest municipal park systems.

鈥淲e are so excited to launch our newly designed website,鈥 said 快播视频 General Superintendent and CEO Carlos Ramirez-Rosa. 鈥淔rom our smallest pocket parks to our largest, most historic parks, these vital public spaces are a common thread that connect people and communities. As the primary, most comprehensive tool to access our entire park system, we understand the importance of our website to the millions of people who visit our parks annually. This new design prioritizes the user experience and makes it even easier for park patrons to learn more about parks, programs and events across the city, explore the rich history of Chicago parks, research park policies and provide us with valuable feedback.鈥

The new website features interactive tools that elevate the user experience. Residents and visitors can now explore Chicago鈥檚 parks, programs and events through state-of-the-art geolocation features, updated park pages with dynamic maps, and smart filtering that allows searches by location, date, activity type, and age group.

The Park District implemented a comprehensive data and community informed approach to develop the new website design. This included gathering thousands of entries in feedback from patron and staff surveys, interviews with park stakeholders representing varying interests, and an in-depth review of web analytics. Together, these tools revealed the need for enhanced usability, content accuracy, and navigational structure.

The District directly addressed these issues conducting a thorough review of the existing website content and making the most sought-after information easier to find. Based on user feedback, the areas prioritized are programs and memberships, park and facility information, job opportunities and events and registration tools.

The design is also fully compliant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards, ensuring a usable experience for everyone, regardless of ability. Accessibility features include descriptive headings and screen reader-friendly structure, full keyboard navigation, high color contrast for readability, alt text for all meaningful images and graphics, easy-to-understand language throughout, skip navigation links, compatibility with screen readers and voice navigation tools and a responsive design for mobile, tablet, and desktop.

The Park District contracted Clarity Partners to design and develop the new site. The firm鈥檚 MBE/WBE participation is 100% MBE and 5% WBE, meeting the District鈥檚 procurement compliance goals.
