The living exhibit "Where Nature and Humanity Intertwine: Enter the World of Alfredo Ramos Martinez" runs through September 14
CHICAGO— The newest Artist’s Garden Flower Show, inspired by the work of painter and muralist Alfredo Ramos Martinez, opens July 2 at the Garfield Park Conservatory at 300 N. Central Park Ave. The outdoor living exhibit will be on display through September 14, 2025.
To many, Alfredo Ramos Martinez is considered the founding father of Modern Mexican Art. As a painter and muralist, he made significant contributions to the development of Mexican and Southern Californian art. This exhibit showcases plants and flowers used in Martinez’s masterful depictions of indigenous life, rural landscapes and floral symbolisms. As shown through his work, the visual artist had a deep reverence for the natural world and used nature to show ideas like hope, strength, freedom and pride.
Visitors will enjoy hundreds of Calla Lilies, Mexican petunias, Mexican Sunflowers and more flowering blooms planted in the garden to represent Martinez’s artwork.
“It’s important to curate spaces where nature and humanity can coexist,” said Superintendent and CEO Carlos Ramirez-Rosa. “Whether you’re seeking peace, inspiration, or simply a place to connect with the natural world, I invite everyone to come and explore the vibrant colors and diversity of nature at this year’s Artist’s Garden Flower Show.”
