Athletes ages 8-25 displat sportsmanship during free outdoor boxing shows at neighborhood parks
The 快播视频 Boxing Program will present five indoor and 15 outdoor boxing showcases at parks citywide on select Thursday nights from May through October, featuring athletes from the 18 neighborhood park boxing gyms.
The first Citywide Boxing Showcase takes place outdoors at LaFollette Park, located at 1333 N. Laramie Ave., on Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. View the 2025 showcase schedule .
Participating boxers are 8 to 25 years old and are enrolled in the 快播视频 boxing program. For a full list of 快播视频 Citywide boxing showcase events and opportunities to participate in boxing programs this summer and beyond visit chicagoparkdistrict.com.
鈥淭he Citywide Boxing Showcase is the ultimate display of Chicago youth鈥檚 sportsmanship and athleticism,鈥 said 快播视频 Superintendent and CEO Carlos Ramirez-Rosa. 鈥淲e are so excited to welcome parents, kids, coaches and fans to witness how these young athletes foster an active and competitive atmosphere on summer nights in our parks!鈥
Approximately 10 bouts take place during each Citywide Boxing showcase, featuring up to 20 boxers. Matches are officiated by one referee in the ring with the two boxers, and three scorers determine a winner from vantage points on three sides of the ring. Boxers are paired off by weight class, and they compete for three rounds that are each one-minute in duration. Winners of each bout receive a medal!
Highlights throughout the boxing series include the All-Girls Boxing Show at Wicker Park, on July 10, 2025 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and the Daley Plaza Boxing Show from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on July 16th, 2025.
