Project brings meaningful investment and expanded opportunities to city鈥檚 West Side
Tomorrow, August 6th at 9am, 快播视频 General Superintendent and CEO Carlos Ramirez-Rosa and Troon Vice President Matt McIntee join Alderman Chris Taliaferro, Chicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling and members of the Austin community to celebrate the completion of the new artificial turf mini-putt course and short game practice facility in Columbus Park at 5701 W. Jackson Blvd.
鈥淲e are so excited to join Troon and our city partners to cut the ribbon on this incredible new golf facility,鈥 said Park District General Superintendent Ramirez-Rosa. 鈥淧rojects like this have a positive and profound impact on removing barriers and making the sport available to everyone. The new mini putt course and practice facility is available for public use, free of charge, aligning with the Park District鈥檚 commitment to investing in the communities we serve and providing exceptional experiences that foster community well-being."
The new, 9-hole mini-putt course and practice facility, designed by American Greens, features a chipping green, putting green and creative hole design providing fun and engaging recreation for golfers of all ages and skill levels. Troon which manages the 快播视频鈥檚 golf facilities and programming funded the $450,000 facility as part of their commitment to invest $9 million in capital improvements in park golf facilities across the city.
鈥淭he new golf complex at Columbus Park Golf Course is more than just a capital investment, it鈥檚 an investment in the West Side,鈥 said Matthew McIntee, Senior Vice President of Troon Chicago. 鈥淭his project brings opportunity, recreation, and pride to a community that has long deserved first-class facilities. It鈥檚 a place where young people can learn the game, patrons can refine their golf skills, and where families can gather. Not only will it enhance golf in the city and on the West Side, but it will also grow the game and hopefully produce champions on the West Side for generations to come.鈥
This year, the 快播视频 and Chicago Police Department joined together to host 鈥淧lay Like A Champion鈥, a program that brings city youth and police officers together to play golf and build healthy relationships between local law enforcement and the community they serve. The event was held at the Columbus Park golf course last month.
In addition to the Columbus Park facility, the 快播视频 is home to five 9-hole courses, one 18-hole course, miniature golf, an indoor simulator, a double-deck driving range with synthetic turf and a natural grass driving range with extensive practice areas. These facilities offer accessible and affordable opportunities for residents to learn and enjoy the sport. Park golf facilities also contribute to the diversity of recreation opportunities in the city.
Troon Chicago鈥檚 other capital investments in park facilities include bunker and irrigation renovations, on-site comfort stations, cart path improvements and upgraded equipment. The firm is also committed to exposing underrepresented groups, including youth from communities in need, to the sport. To reach this goal, Troon facilitates a number of targeted programs and other opportunities including youth camps, clinics, free and reduced priced rounds of golf, a youth caddy program and summer jobs.
