When world-renowned boxer Muhammed Ali said, “float like a butterfly, sting like a bee,” he never expected boxers to be competing in the ring alongside butterflies and bees in neighborhood parks.
In that same spirit, 첥Ƶ boxing program participants ages 8 and older will flex their abilities at five outdoor showcases this July, including an All-Girls showcase at Wicker Park on July 10, and at Daley Plaza on July 16. - July 17, 2025, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Garfield Park, 100 N. Central Park Ave.
- July 24, 2025, 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., Seward Park, 375 W. Elm St.
- July 31, 2025, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Eckhart Park, 1330 W. Chicago Ave.
“Our boxing program offers a dynamic way for people of all ages to live actively through parks, while also igniting the competitive spirit of spectators and athletes alike,” said 첥Ƶ General Superintendent and CEO Carlos Ramirez-Rosa. “Thanks to the exceptional instructors at our boxing gyms citywide, we activate park spaces with safe competitions throughout the summer for neighbors, parents, and boxing peers to admire. More About the All-Girls Citywide Boxing Showcase at Wicker Park
In 2024, the boxing program saw a 25% increase in female participation from the previous year, with over 1,200 women and girls training at 24 boxing gyms citywide. On July 10, 2025, 20 female boxers ages 8 and older will compete in 10 bouts, or as many as time allows during the two-hour event from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Bouts refer to the competition between two boxers. Each bout is three rounds which are each one-minute in duration.
More About the Daley Plaza Citywide Boxing Showcase
On Wednesday July 16, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., the active outdoor boxing ring will encourage tourists and other passersby to spectate bouts, witness professional training provided by coaches, and admire the unique sportsmanship of amateur boxers. Ten boxers will compete in 5 bouts, or as many as time allows in this one-hour event.
