Join the Marquette Park Chamber Ensemble for a free concert! Ornette Coleman, jazz innovator, made many of his contributions with a small ensemble of carefully selected personnel. In “Free The Jazz”, the Marquette Park Chamber Ensemble brings Ornette’s concepts to a much larger group—preserving the sense of freedom inherent to his music while bringing the weight and gravitas that a large ensemble can provide. Free and open to the public inside the historic Marquette Park Auditorium, with seating provided.

This show will be preceded by the Marquette Park Quintet performing “Giggin II”, an overview of some of the pieces they performed at the Chicago International Salsa Congress and at Marquette Park’s Black History Month event.
