Description

In Sept. of 2012, when Mayor Tang Liangzhi of Wuhan, China visited Chicago he presented Mayor Rahm Emanuel with the gift of The Return of the Yellow Cranes sculpture. During the presentation of the artwork, Mayor Liangzhi and Mayor Emanuel signed a memorandum of understanding to encourage further dialog and collaboration between Wuhan and Chicago in the future.

The 快播视频 installed the bronze sculpture in the lobby of the newly completed Ping Tom Memorial Park field house in the fall of 2013. Sculpted by renowned Chinese artist Liu Zhengde, the artwork depicts two cranes standing on the back of a tortoise, with a snake slithering near the feet of two birds. This sculpture is a smaller version of an original sculpture entitled The Return of the Yellow Cranes, located at the iconic Yellow Crane Tower in Wuhan, China. Chicago鈥檚 6-foot tall reproduction is approximately two-thirds the height of the original artwork. This is the only smaller scale reproduction of the original 1985 artwork.
