North Park Village Natural Area
North Park Village Nature Center is surrounded by about 45 acres of prairie, oak savanna, woodland, and wetland habitats within the 160-acre North Park Village complex. Winding crushed gravel and mulch paths run through these diverse habitats. The Nature Center鈥檚 mission is to provide residents an opportunity to interact with wildlife, plants and other natural resources through environmental education programs such as field trips for students, intergenerational programs on conservation and biodiversity, habitat restoration, volunteer opportunities, and year-round events.
In addition to maintenance conducted by the park district, North Park Village benefits from the dedication and hard work of volunteers who collect and scatter native seed, plant native species, pick up trash, monitor vegetation and birds, and remove invasive species. Learn more about volunteer opportunities by visiting our Community Stewardship Program page.
