Lincoln Park - North Ave. Beach Dunes Natural Area

Description

In 2018, approximately 13,000 marram grass plants (Ammophila breviligulata) were installed east of the Lakefront Trail heading north along North Avenue Beach. This native, sand-loving plant encourages dune formation. These plantings aim to increase habitat connectivity, reduce sand deposition onto the Lakefront Trail, and buffer areas from erosion during high wave activity.
