History

The 快播视频 has been leasing this 2.66-acre site for this park from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District since 2002.  The park is named for Mayor Richard J. Daley, the 48th Mayor of the City of Chicago, serving from April, 1955 until December 1976.  He was born in 1902 in the South Side of the City.  He took night classes at DePaul University College of Law where he earned a law degree in 1933.  He was first elected Mayor in 1955 and held that office until his death in 1976.  In 1936, he married Eleanor 鈥淪is鈥 Guilfoyle and continued to live in the Bridgeport neighborhood.  They had seven children, their eldest son being Mayor Richard M. Daley.  Key construction projects occurred during his term including the development of O鈥橦are International Airport, the Sears Tower, McCormick Place, the campus of the University of Illinois at Chicago, numerous expressways, subways, and various other Chicago landmarks.  Mayor Daley was a committed supporter of fishing in Chicago and his vision of one day being able to fish in the Chicago River 鈥渙n your lunchtime鈥 has now come true.
