Description

The Columbus Park Natural Area is composed of native woodland, wet prairie, and aquatic habitat. This natural area, portions of which were designed by landscape architect, Jens Jensen is home to one of the best displays of blooming spring ephemeral plants in the city. A paved path surrounds the exterior of the lagoon while stone and gravel paths wind through the woodland and prairie areas. The lagoon is a great location for fishing.

In addition to maintenance conducted by the park district, Columbus Park Natural Area benefits from the dedication of volunteers who collect and scatter native seed, plant native species, pick up trash, monitor vegetation and birds, and remove invasive species. Learn more about volunteer opportunities by visiting our Community Stewardship Program page.

Help keep wildlife wild, safe, and healthy by following posted signage and Natural Areas Rules and Regulations. For questions regarding 快播视频 Natural Areas, email nature@chicagoparkdistrict.com
